• 1993: Nanae sends a delegation of thirteen to Concord, including their mayor and superintendent of schools, to discuss the possibility of a sister-city relationship with Concord.
• 1994: Thoreau School sends videotape, artwork and artifacts to Onuma Elementary School in Nanae.
• 1994: Nanae sends delegation of four to Concord, brings artwork and other gifts to Thoreau School.
• 1995: Seven Concord citizens, including two educators, visit Nanae after attending Massachusetts-Hokkaido Sister State Fifth Anniversary Celebration in Sapporo. Meet Concord Nanae Network and bring gifts from Concord Public Schools to Nanae schools to further the sister school relationships.
• 1995: Nanae sends five middle school students, a teacher and the school superintendent to the Concord Middle School for a four-day
exchange and home stay. Articles brought to Thoreau and Willard Schools.
• 1995: Concord-Carlisle hosts five Hokkaido students and two Sapporo parents association members for four-day home stay as part of larger Hokkaido visit to Massachusetts.

• 1999: Monica Terry, CCHS ‘93, replaces Katherine Vandever in Nanae Town International Office for the 1999-2000 year.

• 1999: Nanae sends one student for one month to CCHS. She was hosted by the family she stayed with when she came to CMS and by the family of the student she hosted when the band went to Nanae.

• 2005 Willard teacher Sue Guest’s third grade class sends package to the Togeshita Elementary School
• 2005 Concord sends a delegation of eleven including two selectmen, the superintendent of schools, seven teachers from all levels, and one citizen to Nanae in July to visit schools.
• 2005 After visiting Nanae in July, the above delegation continued on to Sapporo to present gifts to the Hokkaido Government from the Massachusetts Hokkaido Association and the Town of Concord in honor of the Fifteenth Anniversary of the Massachusetts Hokkaido Sister State Relationship.
• 2005 Nanae sends its annual October delegation consisting of seven students, two town office staff, one teacher and a citizen. The delegation also participated in the celebration of the fifteenth anniversary of the sister state relationship at the Massachusetts State House. Adults visit Thoreau School.
• 2005 Concord hosts Mr. Masafumi Nakagaki of the Hokkaido Massachusetts Association and members of his delegation.
• 2006 Concord visits Nanae in July with another teacher delegation to further the sister school relationships that have been developed and to plan for the CCHS Concert Band trip in April 2007
• 2006 Nanae sends its annual October delegation consisting of seven students, Mayor Nakamiya and his wife, one Nanae Town staff member, one teacher and three citizens. Delegation visits Willard School.
• 2007 CCHS 90 member Concert Band goes to Nanae and Sapporo during April vacation.
• 2007 Nanae sends its annual October delegation consisting of seven students, two Nanae Town staff members, one teacher and three farmers.
• 2007 The four evening Wheeler Forum covers the life of Concordian William Wheeler, including his time and accomplishments in
Japan.
• 2008 The 90 member Sapporo Shiroishi Symphonic Wind Ensemble returns to Concord for home stays and a joint concert with the CCHS Concert Band at Boston’s Symphony Hall.
Many Concord-Carlisle High School and Concord Public School exchanges and activities have been coordinated by Tom Curtin (CCHS Guidance Department, retired) and Sue Curtin (Concord Middle School Social Studies Department, retired). CCHS Concert Band trips have been coordinated by Tom Curtin and CCHS Band Director Al Dentino. Since 2005, CCHS English teacher David Nurenberg has had ongoing exchanges between his Sci Fi Club students and students at Nanae High School and the Sapporo Shiroishi High School.
Town events have been coordinated by the Concord-Carlisle Nanae Network (CCNN), a volunteer citizens organization formally designated by the Town to oversee the sister-city relationship.
